Can We Talk About Sex?

I guess this isn't technically on topic, but it's something I've been thinking about lately.

Giving birth wasn't nearly as traumatic on my body as some. I had only minor internal tearing and some chaffing. I really didn't think that getting back to "normal" was going to take that long. Wrong.

I made my husband wait 8 weeks before I consented to intercourse. And I say it that way because that's really all it was. Not only was I deathly afraid of what it would feel like, but I also wasn't the least bit interested. A year later, not much has changed.

It's sad, really. There was a time when I loved sex, especially with my husband. I considered it an essential part of life and an important factor in deciding whether someone was worth spending the rest of my life with.

Will I ever love sex again?

  1. It took me some time after having the baby, too. Your mind is not in the same place it was before you gave birth. Give yourself some time girl, you'll come around!

  2. It'll come back. Time really is all you need.

  3. Visiting from SITS, and showing some support :)

After having two children, all I cn say is it will take time, and when the time comes, it'll be fantastic. You'll love sex again, I promise!!

    Keep your head up!

  4. Just stopping by to say "thank you" for stopping my blog on Wednesday and being a part of my big SITS day! I also wanted to let you know that I've had plenty of orders for older kids' rooms too - so need to wait for a baby to come along!

And regarding your post - it's totally normal. It sucks, yes, but it's totally normal. I experienced a HUGE surge in my sex drive during the second trimester of my first pregnancy, and I was really looking forward to that again this time around. Only it never happened. :( Like the previous commenters have said, you really do just need to give yourself time.

  5. Bahahaha! You just said "consented to intercourse"...I never thought I'd hear it that way coming from you!
